Throughout 2016, UBER partnered with the National Union of Students (NUS) and creative agency A Story Called to deliver a nationwide campaign aimed at building awareness and driving adoption of the UBER app among university students across the UK.
The year-long initiative combined social media engagement, direct email marketing, and on-site advertising within Student Unions to connect with students in key university cities. The campaign was strategically designed to integrate with students’ daily lives, making UBER a familiar and trusted transport option.
Social media channels were utilised to share relevant, student-focused content and promotional offers, while targeted email campaigns delivered tailored messaging directly to students’ inboxes. On-campus advertising placements—ranging from posters and banners to digital screens—ensured consistent visibility across high-footfall areas within Student Union buildings.
By leveraging the influence and reach of the NUS, alongside the creative direction of A Story Called, the campaign effectively positioned UBER as an accessible, safe, and affordable transport solution for students. It was rolled out across major university locations including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, and Bristol, significantly boosting brand recognition and student engagement.
